Position Overview
The City of Kamloops is recruiting for a Planner II to join our Planning & Development Department, either in development/current or long-range planning! This position requires a well-organized, resourceful, and motivated individual with strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
  1. Completion of a university degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline, such as geography, sociology, urban development, sustainable development, etc.
  2. Membership in good standing with the Canadian Institute of Planners and a minimum of three years' experience as a planner in a municipal or private sector environment, including previous experience in both a technical and analytical planning role
    OR
    Completion of a Master's degree in urban planning or a related discipline and the ability to acquire full membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners within two years of employment and a minimum five years’ experience in a municipal or private sector environment, including previous experience in both a technical and analytical planning role.
  3. Minimum of one-year previous leadership experience.
  4. Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5 or equivalent.
 
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position.

This position may or may not be filled based on the outcome of our Senior Planner (Permanent, Full-Time) - (1028) posting. This position will remain open until filled.

Hourly Rate
$47.09

This division is currently working on an Approved Modified Scheduling Agreement. The current hours are as follows:

Winter
Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Every third week, one day off in lieu
 
Summer
Monday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Every third week, one day off in lieu
